I designed this dress with the young violinist Hilary Hahn in mind...

So, my inspiration were the clean lines, curves and shapes of the violin, rather than the COLORS of the instrument.

The neckline was inspired by the neck of the violin, the bodice and the layers of the ruffles were inspired by the curves of violin body, and the embroidered design going down all the ruffles were from the…carving on the violin. I wanted her to look kind of ethereal, so I used a very light grey, so she when she walks onto the stage, the cascades of ruffles will flutter.
Fabric choice: silk chiffon, silk satin. Pearl thread (embroidering)
